On January 19–20, 2026, the «Russia–Oman Digitalization and Smart Cities» business mission was held in the Sultanate of Oman. It was organized by the International Association for |Territorial Development (IATD) jointly with the Ministry of Construction and Housing of the Sultanate of Oman.
Representatives of government agencies and businesses from both countries participated in the meetings. The main topics of the talks were digital technologies for urban development, territorial data management, and practical solutions for smart city projects.
The Russian delegation was led by Almaz Arslanov, Chief of Staff of the IATD Chairman; Vyacheslav Butin, founder of the B5 Group; Roman Demidenko, Deputy Chairman of KB Panorama; and Alexey Dudarev. Oman’s delegation included Khaled Al Maawali, Head of the Digital Transformation Department at the Government of the Sultanate of Oman; Saud Al Shuaibi, Director of the Information Technology Department at the Ministry of Construction; and Ali Al Esaiy, Secretary of the Land Registry.
During the business mission, the Russian delegation presented its developments and practical experience in IT city projects, geographic information systems, digital cadastres, and address systems, which can be used in urban infrastructure development and territorial management.
«It is important for us not just to discuss ideas but to move on to specific joint projects. Oman is open to cooperation and technology exchange,» noted Almaz Arslanov.
Following the meetings, the Omani delegation invited Russian companies to participate in a competition to develop technologies for the «Sultanate haytham Smart City» project. The parties expressed interest in continuing the dialogue and further developing cooperation in the field of digitalization and smart cities.
